No one told the station about her suicidal tendencies, thinking it might cost her her job.

In the weeks before the suicide, she asked the station manager if she could do a piece on suicide. Her pitch was approved and she went to the police to get information. She found out that the best way to commit suicide was with a .38 caliber pistol and wadcutter target bullets and that one would have a higher success rate if they shot in the back of the head instead of the front.

After the segments were filmed, Chubbuck was in an argument with her director who took out a segment where she covered a shootout. She was mad because the station manager had told reprters to focus more on "blood and guts".

On the morning of July 15th, she confused her co-workers by saying she had to read a news story before her show started. So she walked over to the anchor desk and read some news stories developing from the previous day and then reached into her puppet bag and said, "In keeping with Channel-40's policy to bring you the latest in blood and guts, in living color, you will see another first- attempted suicide"

The strange part about the death was the script she was reading from, it has coverage of the events after she had shot herself and it speculated she would die 14 hours later. She died 12 hours later.

Canada

Canada has some crazy myths and mysterious deaths and disappearances read a small collection of the most popular ones at this site.

Virgin Mary Stump

The BBC has reported a stump in northern Ireland that people think looks like the Virgin Mary. I am of course refering to The Roswell Incident, the catalyst of the 20th century distrust in our elected officials.

Here is a timeline of events as they happened:

Wednesday. July 2, 1947
At 9:50 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilmot see an oval object, "like two inverted saucers faced mouth to mouth," passing over their house in Roswell, New Mexico. The object, moving at a high rate of speed, is heading northwest.

Friday. July 4, 1947
The first of the special flights from Washington arrives. On the plane is Warrant Officer Robert Thomas. Thomas and his companions are in uniform upon arrival, but quickly change to civilian clothes. Thomas wants an on-site briefing as soon as it could be arranged. These men remain at Roswell throughout the retrieval.

William Woody and his father watch a flaming object, white with a red trail, fall toward the ground north of Roswell.

During a thunderstorm near Corona, New Mexico, W W. "Mac" Brazel hears a tremendous thunderclap that sounds like an explosion but is somehow different from the rest of the thunder. Others in the area report the same phenomenon.

At 11:27 PM. the radar sites continue to watch the object. It seems to pulsate a number of times, then explodes into a starburst. The belief is that the object has now crashed.

Jim Ragsdale and Trudy Truelove see a bright flash of light and hear a roaring sound that passes overhead. Ragsdale knows that something has struck the ground close to their campsite.

Saturday, July 5, 1947
Jason Ridgway, a sheepherder in central New Mexico, finds the remains of a crashed saucer He spends little time on the site and refuses to tell anyone about it until many years later. Ridgway is a friend of Mac Brazel.

Archaeologists, including W. Curry Holden, working the sites around Roswell stumble across the impact site where the object has crashed. One of them heads to the closest phone to tell Sheriff George Wilcox of the discovery of the remains of a crashed aircraft of some kind.

Wilcox calls the local fire department to alert them about the crash. One truck, with Dan Dwyer on it, responds to the call. The site is about 35 miles north of Roswell.

The Roswell Fire Department, escorted by members of the Roswell Police Department, makes a run along Pine Lodge Road northwest of Roswell. These are among the first civilians to come across the impact site.

At 5:30 A.M. the military knowing the approximate location of the saucer crash, move in with a carefully selected team for the recovery of the craft. The soldiers find civilians on the site already. They escort them off while others secure the area. Five bodies are found on the site. The site is cleaned and secured within six hours.

Following the rain the night before, Brazel inspects the pastures surrounding the ranch house. Riding with him is the young son of the Proctors, William D. Proctor. During the inspection, Brazel discovers a large debris field. Scattered on the slopes and into the sinkhole and depressions are metal, plastic like beams, pieces of lightweight material, foil, and string. The debris is thick enough that the sheep refuse to cross the field and are driven around it to water more than a mile away.

Thomas and his crew move out to the impact site. The bodies, originally covered by sheets, are now in lead-lined body bags. Only those with the highest clearance are allowed close to the center of the impact. Guards are posted, facing out, to keep the curious away.

John McBoyle, a reporter for radio station KSWS in Roswell, tries to reach the crash site. He phones to report an object looking like a crushed dishpan. He tells Lydia Sleppy, who works at the parent station in Albuquerque, to hang on. She overhears an argument and then McBoyle tells her to forget it, he has made a mistake. McBoyle is about forty miles north of Roswell.

Lydia Sleppy tries to put a message out on the Teletype. According to Lydia, the message is intercepted by the FBI in Dallas and she is ordered not to complete the transmission.

Melvin F. Brown, who is on guard duty at the impact site, is warned to climb into the back of the truck. Although he has been ordered not to look under the tarp, the moment that everyone's back is turned, he does. He finds the bodies of the alien flight crew. They are small, with large heads and skin that is yellow or orange.

Glenn Dennis, the mortician working at the Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, receives a call from the base mortuary officer, who asks him about small caskets.

In Roswell for a conference, C. Bertram Schultz, a vertebra paleontologist, drives north from the city on Highway 285. To the west he sees a number of guards along the highway. Schultz isn't interested in driving to the west, so he doesn't stop, nor is he bothered by the guards.

The Roswell base mortuary officer calls again. He asks Glen Dennis questions about what various chemicals would do to blood and tissue. He also wants to know the procedures for preparing a body that has lain out in the elements. Dennis suspects a fatal crash involving someone important.

Glenn Dennis receives a call from downtown Roswell, where an airman had been injured. The funeral home where Dennis works also operates the ambulance service. Dennis drives the injured airman to the base, is waved through the gate, and stops at the rear of the hospital. Parked behind it, at the loading dock and in front of the emergency room, are three ambulances. In the rear Dennis sees small, canoe like devices and strange debris of some sort.

The bodies arrive at the base and are taken to the hospital for examination. Dr. Jesse Johnson pronounces them dead. Two doctors who are not assigned to the base but who have arrived on one of the special flights begin the preliminary autopsy.

Brazel, taking a few scraps of the material, heads to the home of his closest neighbors, Floyd and Loretta Proctor. He shows them "a little sliver" of material that he can neither burn nor cut. The Proctors suggest he take it into town to show the sheriff.

Inside the base hospital at Roswell, Dennis is confronted by two military officers. A red haired captain tells Dennis that he has seen nothing and heard nothing; if he opens his mouth, they will be "picking his bones out of the sand".

Military bases along the West Coast have fighters on standby in case the flying disks are seen. A few bases in Oregon and Washington have planes equipped with gun cameras on airborne alert.

Sherman Campbell of Circleville, Ohio, reports to the sheriff that he has what he thinks is an explanation for some of the flying disk sightings. He has found a weather balloon on his farm. It is metallic, with a kite like appendage on it. The device is displayed at the local newspaper office and then returned to Campbell. Jean Romero, Campbell's daughter, reports that it is kept in a barn for years afterward.

Later that evening, Brazel removes the large, circular piece of the debris from the range. Brazel either loads it into the back of his truck or drags it along behind. He stores it in a livestock shed about three miles north of the crash site.

The bodies are sealed into a long crate, which is taken to a hangar. It is left there overnight with spotlights playing on it while military police stand guard around it. They never approach it.

Melvin Brown, along with other soldiers, is ordered to stand guard outside the hanger. Brown's commanding officer approaches and says, "Let's have a look inside." But there is nothing to see because everything has been packed and crated, ready for shipment.

Sunday, July 6, 1947
Brazel gets up early, completes his chores, and then drives into Roswell, about 75 miles away He stops at the office of Sheriff George Wilcox. Contrary to published reports, Wilcox is excited about the find and suggests the military at the Roswell Army Air Field be notified.

At 11:30 A.M. Dennis finally locates his friend, the nurse, who agrees to meet him for lunch. He drives out to the base to meet her at the officers' club.

While waiting for the military officers to arrive, Wilcox dispatches two of his deputies to the ranch. They have only the directions given by Brazel, but both men are familiar with the territory; and Wilcox believes they will be able to find the debris field.

William Woody and his father try to drive out toward the area where they'd seen the object coming down, but the roads are blocked. The side roads off Highway 285, from Vaughn and to the west, are guarded by military police who allow no one to pass.

Frank Joyce, a reporter and announcer for radio station KGFL, calls the sheriff and asks if anything interesting is happening at the office. Wilcox refers him to Brazel.

Colonel William Blanchard, commanding officer, entrusted with oversight of the first and only atomic-bomb strike force in the world, the 509th Bomb Group, orders Jesse Marcel, the air intelligence officer, to investigate. Marcel immediately drives to the sheriff's office. Marcel interviews Brazel, examines the pieces of the material that Brazel brought in, and decides he had better visit the ranch to examine the field for himself.

Marcel, taking some of the debris with him, returns to the base and reports to Blanchard what he has seen. Blanchard, convinced that he is in possession of something highly unusual, perhaps Soviet, alerts the next higher headquarters. Marcel and Blanchard (and later, Cavitt) all knew this wasn't from any type of balloon.

Marcel returns to the sheriff's office with the senior counter-intelligence agent assigned to the base, Captain Sheridan Cavitt. They escort Brazel back to his ranch and examine the debris field.

Acting on orders from Major General Clements McMullen, deputy commander of the Strategic Air Command, Blanchard obtains, from the sheriff's office, more of the debris. It is sealed in a courier pouch and loaded on an airplane to be flown on to the Fort Worth Army Air Field, where it is given to Colonel Thomas DuBose for transport to Washington, D.C.

After Marcel and Cavitt leave with Brazel, the two deputies return to say they did not find the debris field but observed a burned area in one of the pastures. There the sand has been turned to glass and blackened. It looks as if something circular has touched down.

At the Fort Worth Army Air Field, DuBose and Colonel Alan Clark, the base commander, meet the aircraft from Roswell. Clark receives the plastic bag with the debris and walks to the "command" B-26 to fly it to Washington, D.C., and General McMullen.

Because of the distance to the ranch over roads that are less than adequate, Brazel, Marcel, and Cavitt do not arrive until after dark. They stay at the "Hines" house, eat cold beans, and wait for daylight. Marcel runs a Geiger counter over the large piece of wreckage Brazel has stored in the cattle shed. He detects no sign of radiation.

Monday, July 7,1947
At 2:00A.M. a special flight leaves for Andrews AAF in Washington, D.C. Some of the debris and the bodies are on that flight.

Brazel takes the two military officers out to the crash site. It is 3/4 mile long and two to three hundred feet wide. A gouge starting at the northern end of it extends for 400 to 500 feet toward the other end. It looks as if something has touched down and skipped along. The largest piece of debris is recovered at the southern edge of the gouge.

The debris is as thin as newsprint, but incredibly strong. There is foil that, when crumpled, unfolds itself without a sign of a wrinkle, beams that flex slightly and have some symbols on them, and material resembling Bakelite.

Walt Whitmore, Frank Joyce's boss at KGFL, arranges for someone to go and grab Brazel at the ranch and bring him back to Roswell. By this time Whitmore figures Brazel was about to become a heavily sought-after man, so what better place to hide him than Whitmore's home?

Marcel and Cavitt walk the perimeter of the field and then range out looking for more details or another crash site, but find nothing else. Finally they return and spend the remainder of the day collecting debris. They load the rear of Marcel's car and then the jeep carryall driven by Cavitt. About dusk they begin the trip back to Roswell.

Liutenent Haut was aware that someone had reported the remains of a downed vehicle by midmorning after his return to duty at the base. He was also aware that Major Jesse A. Marcel, head of intelligence, was sent by the base commander, Col. William Blanchard, to investigate.

By late in the afternoon that same day, haut would learn that additional civilian reports came in regarding a second site just north of Roswell. He would spend the better part of the day attending to my regular duties hearing little if anything more.

Lieutenant General Nathan Twining, the commander of the Air Materiel Command, the parent organization at Wright Field, Ohio, and the next higher headquarters for both the Alamogordo Army Air Field and the Kirtland Army Air Field, changes his plans and flies into Alamogordo.

General Carl Spaatz, commander of the army air forces, on "vacation" in the Pacific Northwest, tells reporters that he knows nothing about the flying disks or the plans of various local units to search for them.

Intrigued by the story Joyce has told him about the telephone interview he'd conducted with Brazel, Walt Whitmore, Sr., wants to learn more. Whitmore, who knows many of the ranchers and is familiar with the area, drives out to find Brazel.

Walt Whitmore, Sr., who asked Brazel to stay the night in Roswell at his home, now brings the KGFL men in.
That eveing the station's minority owner and newsman, "Jud" Roberts, conduct a wire-recorded interview with Brazelr

KGFL by now was off the air so the broadcast would have to wait until morning.

Tuesday. July 8.1947
At 2:00 A.M. Marcel stops at his house on the way to the base. He awakens his wife, Viaud Marcel, and son, Jesse, Jr., to show them the material. Over the next hour they examine the debris on the kitchen floor. Marcel, Sr., says it was a flying saucer. Marcel is not breaking regulations since nothing has yet been classified. With the help of his son, Marcel loads it into the car to be taken to the base.

At 6:00 A.M. Marcel and Cavitt visit with Blanchard in his quarters and tell him what they have seen.

Blanchard calls the marshal and orders him to post guards on the roads around the debris field, armed guards encircled the primary areas, denying access to anyone without official business. Easley is directed to locate Brazel and have him escort the MPs to the crash site.

Blanchard calls Eighth Air Force headquarters and advises them of the new find. By this time no one believes the material is from a Soviet device.

Eighth Air Force relays the message up the chain of command to SAC headquarters.

7:30 a.m. The regular 8:00 AM staff meeting is moved up to 7:30 A.M. Lt. Haut would attend the regularly scheduled staff meeting. Besides Blanchard, Marcel; Counter-intelligence Corp Capt. Sheridan Cavitt; Col. James Hopkins, the operations officer; Lt. Col. Ulysses Nero, the supply officer; and from Carswell AAF in Fort Worth, Texas, Blanchard's boss, Brig. Gen. Roger Ramey and his chief of staff, Col. Thomas J. Dubose were also in attendance.

The main topic of discussion was reported by Marcel and Cavitt regarding an extensive debris field in Lincoln County approx. 75 miles NW of Roswell. A preliminary briefing was provided by Blanchard about the second site approx. 40 miles north of town. Samples of wreckage were passed around the table. It was unlike any material they had or have ever seen in their lives.

Pieces which resembled metal foil, paper thin yet extremely strong, and pieces with unusual markings along their length were handled from man to man, each voicing their opinion. No one was able to identify the crash debris.

One of the main concerns discussed at the meeting was whether they should go public or not with the discovery. Gen. Ramey proposed a plan, which they believed originated from his bosses at the Pentagon. Attention needed to be diverted from the more important site north of town by acknowledging the other location. Too many civilians were already involved and the press already was informed. We were not completely informed how this would be accomplished.

7:30 A.M. Regular morning staff meeting is moved up to 7:30 A.M. Blanchard discusses the new find and its possible disposition. Attending the meeting are Marcel and Cavitt; Lieutenant Colonel James I. Hopkins, the operations officer; Major Patrick Saunders, the base adjutant; Major Isidore Brown, the personnel officer; and Lieutenant Colonel Ulysses S. Nero, the supply officer There is reason to believe that Lieutenant Colonel Charles W Horton, Lieutenant Colonel Fernand L. Andry; Lieutenant Walter Haut, and Master Sergeant Lewis Rickett may have also been there.

Whitmore, his wire-recorded interview with Brazel completed, takes Brazel out to the military base.

At 9:00 A.M. Cavitt and Rickett, having returned from assignment in Carlsbad, drive a staff car to the impact site, followed by MPs. They are stopped by the guards who are still posted. When they arrive, they see that a small containment of debris remains which Rickett is allowed to examine.

Whitmore of KGFL receives a phone call from the FCC in Washington. He is told not to air the interview with Mac Brazel. If he does, the station will lose its broadcast license. Later, Senator Dennis Chavez, chairman of the Senate Appropriation's committee, phoned Whitmore to strongly advise him to do as he was instructed.

Blanchard and members of the staff confer by phone with higher headquarters. Brigadier General Roger Ramey orders Marcel to Fort Worth.

Mac Brazel, the ranch foreman who first discovered the debris field, was abducted and detained by the U.S. Army Air Forces at the guest house for four or five days while cleanup. Military officers begin to interrogate. Brazel was denied access to a phone, was given an Army physical, and was subjected to rigorous questioning and intimidation while under arrest.

At 11:00 A.M. Roswell AAF Commanding Officer Col. William Blanchard announced the recovery of a flying disc. Lt. Walter Haut finishes the press release he'd been ordered to write and is preparing to take it into town. He takes it first to one of the radio stations. By noon he has given a copy of the release to both radio stations and to both daily newspapers.

Sheriff Wilcox, wondering what happened out at the crash site, sends two more deputies out. This time they run into the cordon thrown up by the rnilitary and are turned back. The army is letting no unauthorized personnel onto the crash site.

At 2:26 P.M. the story is out on the AP wire. The story announces: "The army air forces here today announced a flying disc had been found."

The phones at the base start ringing. Irritated at his inability to get a line out, Blanchard orders Haut to do something about all the incoming calls. Haut says there is nothing he could do about incoming calls.

Robert Shirkey, standing in the operations building, watches as MPs begin carrying wreckage through to load onto a C-54 from the First Air Transport Unit. To see better, he has to step around Colonel Blanchard.

At 2:30 PM. Blanchard decides it is time to go on leave. Too many phone callers into the base are asking to speak with him. He, along with a few members of his staff, drive out to the debris field. Those left at the base are told to inform the reporters that the colonel is now on leave.

At 2:55 PM. the AP reports in a "95," just under a bulletin in importance, that a flying disk had been found.

At 3:00 P.M. Marcel is told that he is going to Fort Worth with the wreckage. Only a few packages are loaded onto the plane. One, a triangular package about two feet long, is wrapped in brown paper. The other three are about the size of shoe boxes. They are so light that it feels as if there is nothing in them. The special flight, a B-29, takes off for the Fort Worth Army Air Field.

Calls come into Roswell from all over the world as the press release hits the various news wires.

Reporter J. Bond Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is instructed to drive to the base. His editor tells him a flying saucer is coming from Roswell.

Marcel is in Ramey's office with some of the debris. The general wants to see where the debris was found. Marcel accompanies him to the map room. Once Ramey is satisfied, they walk back to the general's office, but the debris is gone. In its place is a ripped-apart weather balloon with debris scattered on the floor.

At 3:53 PM. Roger Ramey announces that the flying disk has been sent on to Wright Field near Dayton, Ohio.

More men arrive at the debris field and are assigned to assist in cleaning it. Soldiers with wheelbarrows move across the field, tossing in the debris. When the wheelbarrows are filled, the soldier take the debris to collection points. The debris is then loaded into covered trucks to be driven into Roswell.

4:30 PM. CST. General Roger Ramey, the commander of the Eighth Air Force and Blanchard's supervising officer, presented to the press an alternate story: He claimed the Army had recovered a rawin target device suspended by a Neoprene rubber balloon. ("Rawin" is a method of determining wind speed and direction by using radar or radio waves to track a balloon carrying either a radar-sensitive target or radio transponder.) Mack Brazel, the ranch foreman who first discovered the debris field, was abducted and detained by the U.S. Army Air Forces for four or five days while cleanup.

At 5:30 PM. a solution for the mystery is offered by Major E. M. Kirton who tells the Dallas Morning News that a balloon is responsible for all the excitement.

5:26 P.M. EDT. ABC_News_July 8. ABC News "Headline Edition" First aired at about 5:26 P.M. this broadcast was re-broadcast at 10:00 P.M. (Rudiak)
Warrant Officer Irving Newton is ordered from the weather office at the Fort Worth Army Air Field to Ramey's office. Newton, in front of a small number of reporters and officers of the Eighth Air Force, identifies the wreckage on the office floor as a balloon. He is photographed and then sent back to his regular duties.

At 6:17 PM. CST the FBI sends a Teletype message from the Dallas office to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover telling him that a balloon is responsible for the reports. It is on its way to Dayton for examination by army air force experts. This telex disputes Gen. Ramey's announcement to the press that the special flight transporting wreckage to Wright Field (Dayton) had been cancelled, as well as Ramey's explanation of a balloon and foil radar target.

At 7:30P.M. the AP breaks into its last message with a bulletin telling the world that the Roswell flying disk is nothing more than a balloon.

Ramey, with the identity of the wreckage established, announces to the world that the officers at Roswell had been fooled by a weather balloon. Ramey also appears on Fort Worth-Dallas radio station WBAP.

An unscheduled flight from Boiling Field (Washington, D.C.) arrives. Lewis Rickett meets it at Roswell and gives the crew a sealed box with wreckage in it. He is required to get a signature before he can surrender it.

At 10:00 PM. ABC_News_July 8. ABC News "Headline Edition" 5:26 P.M. re-broadcast

At 11:59 PM. one of the photographs taken by J. Bond Johnson is transmitted to New York on the news wire.

Wednesday, July 9,1947
Morning newspapers trumpet the story that the "flying saucer" found near Roswell is a weather device. Some quote Ramey while others quote "informed" sources, including senators in Washington.

Clean-up on the various sites resumes at sunup. The military is trying to get everything picked up before any more civilians stumble across the field.

8:00 a.m. Members of the First Air Transport Unit begin loading crates into C-54s. They load three or four aircraft with an intermediate destination of Kirtland. From there they are to be taken on to Los Alamos. Armed guards watch the loading of the aircraft.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Col. Blanchard phoned my office and dictated the press release of having in our possession a flying disc, coming from a ranch northwest of Roswell, and Marcel flying the material to higher headquarters. I was to deliver the news release to radio stations KGFL and KSWS, and newspapers the Daily Record and the Morning Dispatch.

By the time the news release hit the wire services, Haut's office was inundated with phone calls from around the world. Messages stacked up on his desk, and rather than deal with the media concern, Col Blanchard suggested that he go home and "hide out."

Before leaving the base, Col. Blanchard took Haut personally to Building 84 [AKA Hangar P-3], a B-29 hangar located on the east side of the tarmac. Upon first approaching the building, he observed that it was under heavy guard both outside and inside. Once inside, he was permitted from a safe distance to first observe the object just recovered north of town. It was approx. 12 to 15 feet in length, not quite as wide, about 6 feet high, and more of an egg shape. Lighting was poor, but its surface did appear metallic. No windows, portholes, wings, tail section, or landing gear were visible. Also from a distance, Haut was able to see a couple of bodies under a canvas tarpaulin. Only the heads extended beyond the covering, and he was not able to make out any features. The heads did appear larger than normal and the contour of the canvas suggested the size of a 10 year old child. At a later date in Blanchard's office, he would extend his arm about 4 feet above the floor to indicate the height. Haut was informed of a temporary morgue set up to accommodate the recovered bodies. Haut was informed that the wreckage was not "hot" (radioactive).

Jud Roberts along with Walt Whitmore, Sr., attempt to drive out to the debris field but run into the military cordon and are turned back.

According to Roswell Army Air Field head secretary Elizabeth Kyle, the telephones at the base are still tied up by the incoming calls.

More of the wreckage is brought into the base and is now being taken to be boxed into crates of various sizes and shapes.

Bud Payne, a rancher in the Corona area, is chasing a stray cow As he crosses onto the Foster ranch, a jeep carrying soldiers roars over a ridgeline and bears down on him. He is carried from the Foster ranch.

At 12:00 PM. the crate that has been sitting in the empty hangar guarded by the MPs is moved out to bomb pit number one. Nothing other than weapons has ever been stored in the bomb pit.

In Roswell Floyd Proctor and Lyman Strickland see Mac Brazel under escort by three military officers. He ignores both of them, something that he wouldn't have done under normal circumstances.

At lunch the nurse tells Dennis she is sick and wants to return to the barracks. In the course of the meal, she has provided Dennis with an account of what has happened and given him a drawing of the alien bodies.

Sometime that morning, Robin Adair, a photographer with AP received a call from main office in New York, was told to get to Roswell immediately, "even if it meant leasing a plane". Before land at Roswell, Adair flew over the sites. Many troops, vehicles, and MPs covered the large open field. "One of them (sites) wasn't very distinct. The other was." Something had descended, impacted the ground, and then ascended into the air.

Under military escort Brazel is taken into town and into the offices of the Roswell Daily Record. There he gives reporters, including Robin A. Adair and Jason Kellahin from Albuquerque, a new story. Now he claims to have found the debris on june 14. He also says he has found weather observation devices on two other occasions, and what he found is no weather balloon.

Ramey's weather officer; Irving Newton, says the weather balloon is a special kind. "We use them because they go much higher than the eye can see".

An officer from the base sweeps through Roswell picking up copies of Haut's press release, including those at the two radio stations. (Art McQuiddy said that a military officer had retrieved the copies of the press release written by Haut.)

Late in the afternoon, a flight crew at the skeet range is told they have a special flight coming up. The squadron operations officer; Edgar Skelly, tells the aircraft commander to keep everyone together.

The aircraft loaded by Robert Smith and other members of the First Air Transport Unit takes off for Albuquerque. The crates will eventually reach Los Alamos. All the crates are marked with stencils saying "TOP SECRET".

Members of the flight crew pulled from the skeet range quickly preflight their aircraft. Once that is accomplished, they taxi out to the bomb pit. The only places on the base where the bomb pit can be observed are the tower and portions of the flight line.

A sealed, unmarked wooden crate is brought out and loaded into the bomb bay of the B-29, tail number 7301. Six armed MPs guard it, never allowing it out of their sight.

At Fort Worth a number of officers meet the aircraft. One is a man the bombardier recognizes as a mortician with whom he went to school.

When the crate is unloaded and taken from the flight line, Jesse Marcel is driven up to the aircraft. He and the crew are told to return to Roswell. There was no briefing given to them at fort Worth. It is clear now that this flight was a diversion. The bodies had already been sent to Andrews.

At 6:00 PM. Joseph Montoya returns to the base to catch the courier flight to land. He wants to get out of Roswell and forget what he has seen.

Mac Brazel calls on Frank Joyce, this time with a new story, significantly different from the one he told on Sunday. When Joyce points that out, Brazel responds that it "would go hard on him" if he didn't tell the new story.

At 8:00 PM. the flight crew is back. Again, they were not debriefed, but are told that they have flown the general's furniture to Fort Worth. They are cautioned not to tell anyone, including their families, what they have done. As far as everyone is concerned, the flight has not taken place.

Upon his return, Marcel confronts Cavitt in the intelligence office. Marcel wants to the reports flied in his absence, but Cavett refuses. Marcel points out that he is the senior officer but is told the orders came from Washington. If he has a problem, to "take it up with them."

Upon his return from Fort Worth, Major Marcel described to Haut taking pieces of the wreckage to Gen. Ramey's office and after returning from a map room, finding the remains of a weather balloon and radar kite substituted while he was out of the room. Marcel was very upset over this situation. haut and Marcel would not discuss it again.

Haut would be allowed to make at least one visit to one of the recovery sites during the military cleanup. He would return to the base with some of the wreckage which he would display in my office. He was aware two separate teams would return to each site months later for periodic searches for any remaining evidence and was convinced that what he personally observed was some type of craft and its crew from outer space.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal, along with dozens of other newspapers, carries a United Press story. "Reports of flying saucers whizzing through the sky fell off sharply today as the army and the navy began a concentrated campaign to stop the rumors." The story also reports that AAF headquarters in Washington "delivered a blistering rebuke to officers at Roswell."

Thursday, July 10, 1947
As he reads the morning newspaper, Bill Brazel learns about his father's activities in Roswell. He realizes that no one will be at the ranch and makes plans to get down there to help.

At the debris field and impact site men are working to get everything cleaned up. They want nothing left and no signs of their presence.

Military personnel return to Sheriff Wilcox's office and ask for the box of debris he has been storing for them. Wilcox surrenders it without protest.

Mac Brazel is being held in the guest house on the base. The officers there are still trying to convince him that he is not to say anything about what he has seen. They are also trying to keep him out of the way of reporters. He is given a physical by doctors at the base hospital.

Sheriff Wilcox calls on Glenn Dennis's father, telling him that his son has gotten himself into trouble out at the base. The sheriff had been visited by a sergeant who wants to ensure Glenn's silence.

Major W. D. Prichard from Alamogordo claims that a unit from his base in Roswell launched balloons around June 14. That, according to the article reported in the Roswell Daily Record, is undoubtedly what Brazel had found.

Friday, July 11, 1947
The debriefings of all the participants are under way. Participants are taken into a room in small groups and told that the recovery is a highly classified event. No one is to talk about it to anyone. Everyone is to forget that it ever happened.

When he tries to contact his nurse friend, Glenn Dennis is informed that she has been transferred from the base and that no one knows where she has gone.

Members of the military warn those civilians around Roswell who know something of the events that they can never talk about what happened. In some cases, the witnesses are threatened with death should they speak to anyone.

Saturday, July 12, 1947
Bill Brazel and his wife, Shirley, arrive at the ranch, but no one is around. Brazel begins his work, first surveying the ranch to see what needs to be done. He sees no evidence of a continued military presence. The trucks, jeeps, soldiers, and cordon are gone.

This weekend no aircraft with gun cameras search for the flying disks. No aircraft on standby wait for orders to take off. In fact, all aircraft are ordered grounded to prevent further searching.

Tuesday, July 15, 1947
Mac Brazel returns from Roswell. All he will say about his experience is that his interrogators kept asking him the same questions over and over again and that Bill is better off not knowing what happened. Besides, Mac has taken an oath that he will never reveal, in detail, what he saw. By now most of the world has forgotten that a flying saucer supposedly crashed in New Mexico.

Late July 1947
A deeply upset Mac Brazel tells the Lyman Stricklands what happened in Roswell. Through he complains bitterly about his treatment there, he honors his oath of secrecy and says nothing about what he found.

Bill Brazel finds one of the pieces of foil-like material his father had described. Brazel shows this bit of debris to Sallye Strickland (later Tadolini).

August 1947
Mac Brazel and ranch hand Tommy Tyree spot a piece of wreckage floating in the water at the bottom of a sinkhole. Neither man bothers to climb down to retrieve it.

October 1988
Jim Parker's son sees a strange pickup truck on the ranch where the debris was found in 1947. Parker and his son chase it down and discover two men sitting in a U.S. Air Force pickup with a camper on the back. Inside are maps of the local area. The men are in their late twenties or early thirties and apparently of low rank. They claim they are surveying the area to put in a radar site to monitor low-flying aircraft.

RIP John Keel

John Keel, extraordinary parapsychologist died on Friday. Jonas Dupont published a collection of Spontaneous Human Combustion cases and Charles Dickens used Spontaneous Human Combustion to kill off a character in his novel "Bleak House". So, it seems that SHC had an impact once it was first being reported.

Facts:

80% of all SHC cases are female

Most of the victims were overweight and/or alcoholics

Originally, it was thought that alcohol was the cause

The room is found intact except for a fine layer of soot

A yellow, foul smelling oil is usually found on the remains

Clothing can also be intact

Noted Cases:

October 1938
Maybelle Andrews was dancing at a nightclub with her boyfriend when flames suddenly erupted from her back and shoulders. Her boyfriend was severely burned trying to put the flames out. Maybelle died on the way to the hospital.

January 31, 1959
Jack Larber's clothes caught fire shortly after being fed at the Laguna Honda Home in San Fransisco. His attendant tried putting out the flames. Larber died of 3rd degree burns.

December 1959
Billy Peterson was an autoworker, found dead in the front seat of his car in Pontiac, Michigan. The authorities believed it to be an attempted suicide because the exaust pipe had been bent in to face the front seat. He was found with burns all over his body but no damage was done to the car or his clothes.

December 1966
Dr. Joh Irving Bentley was seen alive on December 4th. He had had a gathering with his friends and family. The next day, he was found dead. It appeared that all of his body was burnt except one leg which was not in the bathtub.

January 6th, 1980
Police found the charred remains of a body in an armchair which had not been damaged by the fire. A fire so hot that it melted plastic objects nearby and police found a coating of vaporized flesh on the ceiling.

October 1980
Jenna Winchester was sitting in her friend's car when she burst into flames. Her tried to put the flames out causing the car to crash into a telephone pole. Jenna survived with 20% of her body burnt.

March 24, 1997
John O'Connor was found dead by his nurse. His body completely reduced to ash except for his head and feed. There was no smoke damage to the room and nothing was disturbed.

Does this phenomena exist or is there an explanation? Only time will tell.

Spooklights

UFOs? Ball lightning? or simply headlights? Spooklights have been a spectacle for thrill seeking youths and experienced paranormal investigators alike. No one really knows what causes these phenomena but there are no shortages of theories. Skeptics are adamant that they are just headlights. But, how does that explain their lifelike interaction with those viewing them? Here are some famous spooklights and their locations and behaviours.

Big Thicket Spooklight AKA: The Saratoga Spooklight:
Located in The Big Thicket Nature Preserve in Bragg, Texas.
Story:
This is the most popular spooklight story and has attributed to several other incidents. The light is said to be the lantern of a train engineer who was accidently beheaded while checking the perimeter of a train car. He now wanders the old line looking for his missing appendige.

The light is described as a deep orange, almost pumpkin colored, pendulous sphere of light that starts out small and dim and increases in brightness and size as it makes it's way through the trees. It's initially hard to spot, but you'll see it if you keep looking.

There is a website for this phenomena. As well as the whole Big Thicket, a place known for Bigfoot sightings as well.

The Brown Mountain Lights:
located in The Brown Mountains of North Carolina
Story:
Dating back to well before automobile headlights were around, Cherokee Indians reported seeing these lights as far back as the year 1200. They are believed to be the spirits of fallen warriors. American soldiers of the civil war came close enough to these lights to recognize that they did indeed seem to be moving in a tactical formation. They are described as being white with an eerie glow.

The website is replete with pictures and legends. They optimal time for viewing these lights is in the fall.

The Dovedale Light:
located in River Dove, Dovedale, UK
Story:
Lights dance above the surface of the river in England's famous "Peak District". The lights move in perfect sychronicity as they circle around eachother and jump from heights of 10 to 100 feet above the ground. People flock from all over the UK to see this.

The website has a history of sightings and legends behind these lights.

The Gurdon Light:
located in Gurdon, Arkansas
Story:
75 miles south of Little Rock and 2.5 miles away from the main road you'll see what is described as a blue light wandering the remnants of the old railroad tracks. The legend behind this one is the headless engineer legend. The distinction with this light is that onlookers have seen a border around the light.

Prairie Ghosts has an article about this particular spooklight.

The Hebron Light:
located in Hebron, Maryland
Story:
The Hebron Lights have been around for decades in Maryland and once even caught the attentionof the local police. In the 1950s, police chased a 10 inch ball of light for miles before it disappeared. The lights have had various shapes, sizes and colors. All behaving sporadically before disappearing.

You can read all the encounters here

Hessdalen Valley Lights:
located in Røros, Norway
Story:
These lights showed up suddenly in 1981. They were seen in extreme proximity to residences. The lights are different in how people say they saw yellow triangles and cylinders blinking through the night sky.

Projekt Hessdalen is a study into these lights done by Østfold College.

The Hornet Spooklight:
located in Northeast Oklahoma
Story:
Seen in the far northeast corner of Oklahoma. This lone light at the end of a gravel road is often called "The Devil's Prominade" in Missouri. Sightings date back 100 years to when settlers were crossing the west. Its color and size vary depending who sees it.

This site has directions and background legends.

Longdendale Lights:
located in Longdendale Valley, Derbyshire, UK
Story:
The famous Longdendale Valley is known for being haunted. Ghosts and UFOs are commonplace. These flickering disembodied lights have been seen for centuries and they are attributed to either fairies, witches, torch bearing ghosts of Roman soldiers or UFOs.

Thissite has a lot of pertenant info.

The Maco Station Ghost Light:
located at Wilmington, North Carolina
Story:
Another train track haunted the unfortunate headless engineer, however, these lights were once seen by Grover Cleveland. Their earliest sighting dates back to 1862. People have claimed this light to have chased them, including a World War II soldier.

The lights are no longer visible. It seems that with the removal of the tracks in 1977, whatever haunted the area had gone away.

Marfa Lights:
located at Marfa, Texas
Story:
My most knowledgeable of all these lights. The Marfa Lights were recorded by a farmer in 1883. Apache Indians believed these lights to be stars that were visiting earth. Skeptics say that they are just headlights from a neighboring highway but that doesn't explain the age and behaviour.

There is site, run by the state of Texas, full of videos and pictures and personal experiences.

The Min-Min Lights:
located at Boulia, Queensland, Australia
Story:
Named Min-Min after the hotel they were first seen from by white settlers, the Min-Min lights have been seen on Aboriginal land for many years. These lights will seem to follow the cars of onlookers. Aboriginal people believe them to be demons.

a YouTube video shows pictures of the lights

Ontario Ghost Road:
located at Scugog Township, Ontario, Canada
Story:
Mysterious white lights have been observed by many people brave enough to venture onto "Ghost Road" also known as Mississauga Trail on Scugog Island. Legend has it that Dan Sweeny lost control while speeding down this road on his motorcycle. Since that day, you could see the phantom headlight of his motorcycle replaying his death.

There is website devoted to the legend.

Silver Cliff Cemetery Lights:
located at Silver Cliff, Colorado
Story:
Another tale I am well versed in. It is said that moving blue flames will appear above the headstones in the old town cemetery. You can view them from town but get too close to the cemetery and they will disappear.

Here's a legend site and a newspaper article in the Denver Post

Surrency Spooklight:
located at Surrency, Georgia
Story:
First spotted by railroad tracks in early 1900, the Surrency Spooklight is thought to be the result of geologic events happening under Georgia. Little is known about this one. There isn't really a website. Only tidbits of info here and there.

If I missed one, let me know and I'll look it up.

Celebri-death

Today is Franz Kafka's birthday and the anniversary of Jim Morrisson's death. Both great men are indeed dead (despite the buzz around Morrisson still being alive in the mountains). It seems like a bad time to be a celebrity in the present moment but even if you're not Jackson, Fawcett or MacMahon, you could get caught up in the death trend too.

A few hours after the announcement of Fawcett's death, other celibrities started dropping like flies on the Internet. Rumors spread around that Jeff Goldblum had died, Harrison Ford, Miley Cyrus, P. Diddy, Louie Anderson, Natalie Portman, Britney Spears, Ellen Degeneres, George Clooney, Rick Astley. All are bogus Internet hoaxes part of an event I like to call "Hoaxapalooza".

It was more than mere gossip and hearsay. Hoaxers went so far as to vandalize wikipedia pages and hack the stars' social networking profiles. It seems crazy but this has happened before.

April 14, 1945 was two days after President Franklin D. Rosevelt had died. New York City switchboards were lit up as people were desperately trying figure out if rumors were true. Rumors that Van Johnson and Commander Jack Dempsey had died as well. Other people claimed to have died were Mayor La Guardia, Harry Hopkins, Robert Taylor, Herbert H. Lehman, Charles Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Al Jolson, Errol Flynn, Babe Ruth, Jack Benny and Jimmy Walker.

So, it's not the Internet but people's gullability that allows "Celebri-death Panic" to grip the populace. The Internet has facilitated it though.

Strange Aviation

On this date in 1937, Amelia Earhart disappeared over the pacific ocean without a trace. So, here is how to use the condensed version for fortune telling:

Hearts=Water
Clubs=Fire
Diamonds=Earth
Spades=Air

This is the meaning of each card:

Ace of Hearts Love and happiness. The home, a love letter. This card is a particularly favorable card that indicates troubles and problems lifting.
King of Hearts A fair-haired man with a good nature; or a man with Water signs predominating in his chart. Fair, helpful advice. Affectionate, caring man. This man helps you out without much talk. His actions reveal his kindness and concern.
Queen of Hearts A fair-haired woman with a good nature; or a woman with Water signs predominating in her chart. Kind advice. Affectionate, caring woman. Sometimes, this card can indicate the mother or a mother figure.
Jack of Hearts A warm-hearted friend. A fair-haired youth; or a young person with Water signs predominating in his or her chart. Often this points to a younger admirer.
10 of Hearts Good luck, success. This is an important card that suggests good fortune after difficulty.
9 of Hearts The card of wishes. A wish/dream fulfilled. Look to the card just preceding this one to determine what the querent desires.
8 of Hearts Unexpected gift or visit; an invitation to a party.
7 of Hearts Someone whose interest in you is unreliable; someone with fickle affections for you. This card can indicate lovesickness.
6 of Hearts A sudden wave of good luck. Someone takes care of you, takes warm interest in you.
5 of Hearts Jealousy; some ill-will from people around you.
4 of Hearts Travel, change of home or business.
3 of Hearts Love and happiness when the entire spread is generally favorable. In a difficult spread, this can indicate emotional problems and an inability to decide who to love.
2 of Hearts A warm partnership or engagement. This is a very favorable card that indicates strength and support coming from a partner.

Ace of Clubs Wealth, prosperity, unexpected money/gain. However, in a difficult spread, this money may disappear almost as quickly as it appears.
King of Clubs Dark-haired, kind-hearted man; or a man with Fire predominating in his chart. A generous, spirited man.
Queen of Clubs Dark-haired, confident woman; or a woman with Fire predominating in her chart. She may give you good advice.
Jack of Clubs A dark-haired or fiery youth. Popular youth who is good-hearted and playful. Can also indicate an admirer.
10 of Clubs Business success. Good luck with money. A trip taken now may result in a new friend or love interest.
9 of Clubs Achievement; sometimes a wealthy marriage or a sudden windfall.
8 of Clubs Work/business problems that may have to do with jealousy. This is generally thought to be quite unfavorable.
7 of Clubs Business success, although there may be problems with the opposite sex. A change in business that may have been expected or earned, such as a promotion.
6 of Clubs Financial aid or success.
5 of Clubs New friendships, alliances are made.
4 of Clubs Beware of dishonesty or deceit; avoid blind acceptance of others at this time.
3 of Clubs Love and happiness; successful marriage; a favorable long-term proposition. A second chance, particularly in an economical sense.
2 of Clubs Obstacles to success; malicious gossip.

Ace of Spades Misfortune; sometimes associated with death or, more often, a difficult ending.
King of Spades Dark-haired man; or a man with Air predominating in his chart. An ambitious man, perhaps self-serving.
Queen of Spades Widowed or divorced woman; or a woman with Air predominating in her chart.
Jack of Spades A youth who is hostile or jealous.
10 of Spades Worry; bad news.
9 of Spades Illness, accident, bad luck. The querent is at his/her personal low.
8 of Spades Temptation, misfortune, danger, upsets.
7 of Spades Advice that is best not taken; loss. There is some obstacle to success, and this indicates that obstacles may be coming from within the querent.
6 of Spades Small changes and improvements.
5 of Spades Opposition and obstacles that are temporary; a blessing in disguise. Sometimes indicates a negative or depressed person.
4 of Spades Small worries, problems. Financial difficulties, personal lows.
3 of Spades Breaks in relationships. Sometimes indicates that a third person is breaking into a relationship somehow.
2 of Spades Breaks in relationships; deceit. A break in an important process in the querent's life. If the question concerns a particular romantic interest, this is considered a warning card - infidelity or separation is quite likely.

Ace of Diamonds Change; a message, often about money, and usually good news.
King of Diamonds Fair-haired or graying man, or a man with Earth predominating in his chart. A man of authority, status, or influence.
Queen of Diamonds Fair-haired woman; or a woman with Earth predominating in her chart. A gossip.
Jack of Diamonds A youth, possibly in uniform. Or, a jealous person who may be unreliable. A person who brings news, generally negative, but relatively minor.
10 of Diamonds A change in financial status, often for the better.
9 of Diamonds A new business deal; travel; restlessness; a change of residence.
8 of Diamonds New job; change in job situation. The young or the old may find love on a trip.
7 of Diamonds An argument concerning finances, or on the job. Generally expected to be resolved happily.
6 of Diamonds Relationship problems, arguments. Separation.
5 of Diamonds Happiness and success. A change for the better. A birth, or good news for a child. A good time to start new projects.
4 of Diamonds Financial upswing; an older person may give good advice.
3 of Diamonds A legal letter. Be tactful with others in order to avoid disputes.
2 of Diamonds A business, partnership, gossip.

Now, the important part. The spreads:

Draw only one card for a simple and fast answer to a burning question.

A common spread involves drawing three cards -- the first represents the past, the second shows the situation in the present, and the third reveals the outcome, or future of the matter.

Some will do a larger spread when looking for a general outlook for a person. For this method, draw three cards for each of these categories: Yourself, Your Family, Your Friends, What You Expect, What You Don't Expect, and The Outcome.

Use your own categories, tailored to your question.

VATT

I found a cool website. We live in a town called Los Lunas, New Mexico, just south of Albuquerque. As we were getting within 10 miles of our houses (Los Lunas is very rural farm area, so 10 miles is pretty close), we saw a weird, silvery shape in the sky. I thought it was just smoke from a fireplace until we got really close to it.

We slowed down and rolled down the windows to stick our heads out and get a better look. The object seemed to be solid and had a sleek, black-looking exterior; the silver color was like a dust that was floating around the main black craft. Then the evening got really weird.

I blinked my eyes and when I opened them we were on the road by a gas station about a quarter mile away from where we should've been. I was confused because I don't remember Will driving from the shoulder of the road where we were looking at the floating object. I looked at him and said, "Did I fall asleep?" He responded, "What?" and then looked around as dazed as I was. He turned the car around and headed back to the spot where we saw the object. It wasn't there anymore.

We drove to the store and walked around in the parking lot trying to figure out what happened. We both felt sore, like our neck muscles had been tensed really tight earlier. Then I remembered my portable CD player! We had been listening to my portable CD player through an adapter in his car. When we saw the object, we turned the radio off, but not the player. The last track I remembered hearing was track 3. I pulled the player out from under the seat and it was dead. I popped fresh batteries in and it started from the point it was on before the power went out. It was on track 7! So, we experienced at least 13 minutes of lost time.

I don't know what happened on that night, but when we got home we couldn't sleep. It was more of an insomnia rather than excitement.

Michael Jackson's Paranormal Connection

It may sound like a set up to some joke about him being white with a scary face but Michael Jackson did have connections to the world of the supernatural.

Jackson wrote a song called "Ghosts" but it wasn't about the spiritual kind. Yet he did claim to have psychic experiences. He told Barbara Walters that he felt it when Princess Diana died. He was also known to have mirror room remeniscent of the midievil sanctoriums. In this room he said he talked to Liberace's spirit. He said that the spirit of Liberace gave him permission to do his theme song. It was also reported by The BBC that Michael Jackson was bidding on an "Authentic Irish Ghost Trapped in Bottle". The item was being sold on eBay and was described as being a ghost that was trapped there after a failed exorcism. It sold for $475, it is not known if Jackson was the winner.

Jackson was also friends with self-proclaimed psychic Uri Geller. They met in England in 1997 after the death of Princess Diana. Jackson was the best man at Geller's vow renewal in 2001. Sylvester Stallone's mother was also a psychic Jackson was known to be friends with. She accurately predicted Governer Schwarzenegger's victory in the California election. Geller said that Michael Jackson said he never inappropriately touched a child, while under hypnosis. He sited his superior hypnotic skills as to how he knew Jackson wasn't lying. Mrs. Stallone also predicted that Jackson was innocent and would come out of his legal troubles stronger than ever. Like most psychics, she was only kind of right. He was found innocent but his life became a downward spiral.

So amongst videos of zombies and were-creatures dancers, Jackson had real life connections with the supernatural and now is part of that world on the other side.

I'm writing a story

It's a web story that will have installments every week or so. But for years now, people have reported seeing strange, large marsupials in America. The Gralien Report has the full story:

The largest, and perhaps most famous of the macropod family (that is, creatures with large feet) are Australia’s iconic hopping delight, the Kangaroo. Used as a national symbol appearing on the Australian coat of arms, some of its currency, and a variety of other places, this unique saltatating (jumping) creature has become a mainstay of Australian culture.

Considered a cultural icon in their homeland, kangaroos are believed to exist only in their native Australia. But alas, perhaps all the wonderful treatment kangaroos get Down Under just isn’t enough; in spite of our scientific understanding that the creatures are endemic to Australia, anomalous appearances of the creatures elsewhere have occasionally turned up over the years, lending to theories of “Screaming Kangaroos” and large marsupials existing in parts of the United States.

Before we delve into reports of the creatures here in the states, it might be interesting to note that kangaroos were actually considered to be kind of anomalous even before their introduction to mainstream Western audiences. Europeans have long regarded kangaroos as strange animals. Early explorers described them as “creatures having heads like deer without antlers which stood upright like men, and hopped like frogs.” The use of “heads” in the plural sense is no typo, mind you; initial sightings of the creatures carrying their young led many to perceive them as having what appeared to be a second head growing out of their abdomen. Such factors no doubt helped lead Europeans back home to dismiss them as travelers’ tales up until their eventual capture and classification.
Read the rest at:
http://gralienreport.com/cryptozoology/screaming-kangaroos-large-anomalous-marsupials-in-the-usa/

Phantom Vehicles

Phantom vehicles are a relatively new phenomena but no one seems to be aware of these occurances.

There have been many reports of ghostly cars and trucks. A majority of these sightings come from rural backroads, empty highways and desolate dirt roads. Many of these sightings take place at night.

Cars and Trucks

* In 1982, two people in Hawaii reported seeing a mysterious black car which disappeared a second later and reappeared again.

* In 1995, an eyewitness saw a brown 1960s car that had bumper stickers, the witness passed the car but it mysteriously reappeared ahead of the witness's car at several stoplights. Also the witness noticed that the driver was a man in his teens and that he never turned his head and he never moved the steering wheel when the man drove around the "dead man's curve" the witness said.

* 2004, In Cape Town, South Africa, a Renault sedan mysteriously rolled up an embankment and hit a fence, despite the fact that the handbrake was engaged and the engine was off. Some say the car was "jumping".

* In the mid 1980s, three people in a sedan reported seeing a gray van heading straight towards them. Then suddenly the van vanished.

* The Curse of "Little Bastard": the mid-1950s Porsche 550 Spyder in which James Dean died is said to be cursed after the accidents in which it has been later involved.

* In Germany, a car mysteriously started up by itself and rammed a wall.

* An eyewitness claimed that an old truck started up by itself and blinked at him as he walked past an old house.

* Early 1980s - a British motorist crashed his car in order to avoid a truck that suddenly appeared coming straight towards him and then vanished.

* A Police chase video has documented a car had been driving erratically "like a man possessed" and proceeding to outrun cops by vanishing into a field that was bordered by an unbroken chain-link fence

Trains

* The "St Louis Ghost Train" is said to haunt a Saskatchewan village.

* Abraham Lincoln's funeral train was said to be haunted by his spirit.

* The "Silverpilen" subway train is supposed to haunt the metrosystem of Stockholm, the Swedish capital.

* In 2000 a train in Bogor Station moving to Jakarta Cikini Station was seen without the driver and passengers.

Planes

* In 1997, eyewitnesses claimed they saw a single-engine plane crash. But when the coast guard searched the waters off Connecticut, they couldn't find any wreckage or bodies. Also none of the airports reported any planes missing.

Boats and ships

* Legends tell of a ghostly ship named the "Flying Dutchman" said to haunt the waters near the Cape of Good Hope.
<br It has the potential to look extra-terrestrial and ghostly. True, it's been more known for the mistaken ghosts but a woman once reported a floating ball of light as a UFO. It turned out to just be smoke and street lamps.

Lenticular Clouds
This is a rare type of cloud that is usually seen in the desert. Don't live in the desert? Well, here's what they look like. Pretty flying saucer looking, huh? Well, you can imagine how many of these clouds get mistaken for extra-terrestrial craft. For a rare cloud, it really photogenic.

The Moon
Seems kind of farfetched but, some of the most notable fixtures of the heavens can be obscured by many natural events on earth. But, the thing that gets the moon on this list is the act of viewing it while on an airplane. It seems looking through foggy glass through pure condensation can make anything look a bit weird. Even the moon.

Venus
Just like the moon, Venus gets mistaken for a UFO. Venus is usually viewable at dawn and dusk and looks a lot like a UFO. Also, when you're convinced that an object is closer than it really it is, it can seem that Venus is following you with scary accuracy.

Experimental Aircraft
The government's go to excuse turns out to be right. Most UFO sightings are actually experimental aircraft. The Stealth Fighter was the source of a lot reported sightings in the 80's. But, to be fair, these technically ARE unidentified flying objects.

Somali Cruises

ever wanted to be attacked by pirates? Here's the report as gathered by NUFORC:

3 Lights Flashing in Auburn, Washington

I was on the phone and stepped outside for a smoke. I looked up to see if any stars were out, and noticed a bright light. The light was steady, and not moving from the spot I first noticed it, and began to flash. At first I thought it was a plane, since we have the airport nearby, but this light was simply not moving. I don't believe it was a plane. After about 5 seconds of flashing, the light disappeared.

Seconds later, two other lights appeared, roughly 3 finger's width apart (and to the left) from where the previous one appeared. These two traveled slowly in formation (one in front of the other) for roughly 10 seconds. The first one then slowly cut off it's lights, followed shortly thereafter by the one behind it.

Dead Tone

I was Reading some articles on urbanlegends.about.com and I came across an interesting one about a movie called "Dead Tone". It was based off of the urban legend where the two kids were prank calling people and one of those people turned out to be a killer. The killer then finds the kids and kills them. But a quick google search of "Dead Tone Movie" and you'll see that there is a lot of hype and has been for a couple of years. People were claiming it is to be the scariest movie ever. You may be thinking that you thought that that was just a fairy tale. But, The Brothers Grimm got inspiration for their tale from actual event. The earliest mention of the Pied Piper was recorded in a stained glass window in 1300. No one really knows exa fly what it was that the piper did but the event was traumatic that it caused all the people to forget the details.

People have been throwing around reasons as to why the children left town. Some theories are more likely than others. Some say that the story is an interpretation of an epidemic; the piper being an illness and the rats symbolizing bubonic plague. Others say that the story refers to a great landslide and that makes sense of the part where he seals the children inside of a mountain. But, the plague didn't hit Europe until the 14th century and the story seems quite elaborate to be about a simple rock slide. Plus, rats did not become a part of the story until the 16th century. Another epidemic theory states that maybe the children fell ill with a disease that caused them to dance. A disease like Huntington's Disease would have that effect. However, Huntington's Disease is genetic but it is unlikely that children would've been effected by it.

A theory that is well recieved is the theory that the story is an interpretation of the Danse Macabre. A militaristic march to death. But, The Danse Macabre wasn't known to have been in existance until the 15th century. So, what could the piper represent? Perhaps it was a representation of The Children's Crusade. it fits the elements of the story; Pied Piper is the pope and the rats symbolize Christians going to the lake (middle east). It also fits the time frame as the crusade happened in 1212.

Well, whatever event happened will be forever lost to history. All we'll be able to do now is enjoy the timless tale and have fun thinking about what it was inspired by.

United States to Blow Up Moon

I'm not kidding, REALLY, THEY ARE. I looked at the site for a while and have found that it's actually a good service. I'd recommend non-hybrid seeds because plants today have been modified for reasons spanning from color to portability but not for nutrition.

The website errs on the side of doomsday religions and conspiracy theorists but that is most likely their target demographic. The articles are very informative and you can tell that this company knows their stuff and aims for quality. They have this cool seed vault feature that allows you to safely store your seeds for a lot longer than normal. That plan is the best deal. It's about $100 for 1 acre's worth of seeds. One acre is a large area, for all you city folk who haven't been to a ranch before.

But, if you're concerned about eating healthier foods and maybe even getting a gardening hobby, I think you should check it out.
